One of my favorite summer traditions is gathering around a campfire, surrounded by the people who matter most. No campfire gathering is complete without the quintessential summer treat: S'mores. This simple yet delightful combination of graham crackers, chocolate, and toasted marshmallows brings a sense of nostalgia and warmth. The act of making s'mores is a ritual that transcends generations, a cultural touchstone that binds us together.

S'mores Pretzel Bites: A Nostalgic Twist on a Classic

Ingredients:

  • Marshmallows (minis work best)
  • Semi-sweet melting chocolates (melting wafers work best for dipping)
  • Granny’s Smores Pretzels  

Instructions:

  1. Preheat and Prep: First things first, move that oven rack to the middle position and preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper—think of it as a cozy bed for your pretzels.
  2. Lay the Foundation: Arrange 50 pretzels in a single layer on the baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each one. Top each pretzel with a few marshmallows, and try not to sneak too many little marshmallows before these sweet treats are made!
  3. Into the Oven: Slide the baking sheet into the oven and keep an eagle eye on those marshmallows. You want them to start browning, which took about 10 minutes in my oven. Your time may vary, so watch for that perfect golden hue.
  4. The Perfect Pair: Once the little marshmallows are nicely browned, take them out of the oven and quickly top each with a second pretzel, creating a delightful little sandwich. Let them cool for a couple of minutes—just enough time to savor the sweet anticipation.
  5. Melted Magic: While the pretzel bites are cooling, melt your chocolate following the package directions. There's something almost therapeutic about watching chocolate transform from solid to silky smooth.
  6. Dip and Sprinkle: Dip each marshmallow pretzel halfway into the melted chocolate and place them back on the lined baking sheet. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle crushed graham crackers over each pretzel bite. It’s like adding a dusting of sweet memories to each one.
