Summer Life Advice from Granny: Slow down and take some time to enjoy the little things in life more. We all get so caught up in racing through our daily lives and forget to take time to enjoy all we have. Life isn’t supposed to be a race through your to-do list. Here is Granny’s list of favorite pastimes & places paired with her edible snacks to enhance life and leisure.
Enjoy Granny's....
1. At a Campfire!
There is something about the crackle of wood and the smell of campfires that bring back fond memories. Memories of piling into a station wagon, tent sleeping, ghost stories, and days spent outdoors are shared memories for us all. Roasting marshmallows was a skill, and the taste of gooey Hersey’s between graham crackers can almost teleport you to a campfire. Next time you're camping try Granny’s S’mores Pretzels with a mallow and get toasted. Need a campground reco? Team Granny's loves the Burlington Bay Campground in Two Harbors, MN
2. On the Lake!
There is a special kind of peace that can only be found on a lake. The sound of water lapping the shore line, the serenity that comes from sunrises and sunsets over a lake. For many of us, the lake was our favorite summertime escape. We’d spend our childhood at the cabin with family enjoying life at a leisurely pace. It was never about doing much and more about being together. Granny's Sunny G Fruit Tonic is an ode to those Sunny days and sticky fingers on the boat. You can't go wrong with any MN Lake but Team Gran is especially fond of boating on Gull Lake.
3. While playing Bingo (& Board Games)
There is a timeless charm to the game of Bingo, that is what Granny and the game got in common. Memories of playing bingo bring back a special kind of excitement and joy. We can probably remember one of our favorite winning stories. Card games like ‘Go Fish’ taught us patience, focus, and strategy while sitting around our grandparents table wide eyed and sticky fingered. Those games weren’t just games — they were lessons in togetherness, in tradition, and in treasuring the slow, sweet moments we now carry in our hearts. Granny's OG Pretzels holds a level of zip and boldness that pairs well with the cut throat environment in Granny’s bingo hall. Much like the OG Pretzel, Bingo is an OG “Granny Hobby”. Need a recommendation on a rowdier kind of Bingo? Belly up to the bar every Saturday at Granny's Hopkins neighbors, The Wild Boar.
4. While crafting!
There is something extra special about something homemade. Many of us learned how to patch our own clothes from our grandparents. Learning a craft from Granny felt like being handed more than just a skill– it was an inheritance of a tradition passed down with honor and care. Her skills behind a sewing machine rival her skills in the kitchen. Whatever you're making, Granny’s Honey Mustard Pretzels pair perfectly with this peaceful pastime. Need some direction? 5. In the Garden
There is something cathartic about playing in the dirt and the smell of earth. For many of us, our love for gardening came from our grandparents. We watched our grandparents diligently tend to their gardens and show off their canning cellar like a trophy room. Granny taught us that tending to plants takes patience, time and attention, and you’ll be able to taste the fruits of your labor. Granny’s got one green thumb and found a way to infuse her love for gardening into her snacks and we’re continuing that legacy. Any of Granny’s products are sure to enhance your gardening experience. 6. While Baking (pun intended)
Some of the sweetest lessons came from Granny’s kitchen. We learned the sacred art of making the perfect pie crust. Granny had a knack for knocking her dough out of the park every time. Her recipe rolodex is a coveted heirloom that’s filled with a treasure trove of family favorites. Granny’s kitchen is the birth place for so many OG recipes, but also where she sowed the seeds with her love for baking and sprouted the next generation of bakers. Granny's newest sweet treat? Birthday Cake Pretzels. Baking not in your blood? Take a class with Bakehouse and learn from the pros!
7. While Scrapbooking/Journaling/Coloring
Granny had a knack for making memories feeling like treasures with her scrapbooking skills. She was consistently jotting down notes into her diary as a way to capture special moments in time onto paper and passing us kids a page of our own to color. Putting pen to paper was Granny’s way to more of each moment spent with her family. A cornerstone to her Granny Hobbies, a coloring book pairs well with any of her snacks, but her gummies and THC beverages have been known to get the creative juices flowing. Whether you're looking for a coloring book, a journal or little book of activities, visit our friends at Bench Pressed (and maybe replenish your Granny's stash while you're there).
8. On the Golf Course
Golfing for Granny was less about keeping score and more about the moments spent laughing together. One sure way to guarantee a hole-in-one was her snack game on the course. Golfing calls for savory snacks, and crisp cool beverages– Lucky for you Granny brings you both. We recommend the Cheddar Pretzels or a golf classic inspired Purple Haze Fruit Tonic. Granny recommends Deer Run Golf Club if you're looking for a new course!
9. Reading
Some of Granny’s sweetest pastimes live between the pages of a well loved book. Afternoons spent swaying gently in a hammock while reading through a page turner. Granny always said a good story can take you anywhere, even if you never leave your backyard. Reading is a hobby that demands we slow down and take our time turning each page. Granny’s Flavor Pack Gummies pair perfectly with summer days, laying in hammocks, and reading your favorite book. Try all four together to achieve maximum relaxation. Gran's favorite place to post up with a book? The shores of Bde Maka Ska.
10. Movie Nights
There was magic in those movie nights when we were kids. The smell of popcorn, the blanket forts in the living room, and the perfect movie to capture our attention. There is nostalgia in pressing the rewind button on a VCR, and a cozy charm to the sound of a rewinding video tape. A charcuterie board with cheese and Granny’s Pretzels are the winning ingredients to a perfectly baked movie night out or at home. If we're leaving the couch for a movie, it's to see a throwback in theaters. The Parkway Theater has a killer lineup.
